Our last round of snow really added to the base on the west end of the trail and conditions are currently great. Areas out on course received anywhere between 5-12+ inches depending on the location. Our attention now turns to a 3-4 day period of above normal temperatures with the possibility of some rain/mixed precipitation ahead of a possible significant winter storm Sunday evening through Tuesday. Temperatures Tuesday right on through race day looks to be around normal for January (which should actually feel quite nice). There is a bit of uncertainty about snow amounts out of the system but all of the forecasts lead towards moderate to heavy snow. We’ll keep track of conditions and how the west end of the trail holds up to 30-40 degree temps for a few days. A meeting of the trail crew is happening on Friday to go over course details.
The National Weather Service in Marquette is doing to be doing some special weather forecasts specifically for the Noquemanon starting the weekend and going into the week of the race. This will come in handy on Friday as skiers will be prepping skis. We will share these with everyone – thank you to NWS Marquette for your support and passion for this race!
More to come!
